Stora Teatern

Stora Teatern is a Renaissance Revival theatre in Lorensberg featuring a round salon and multiple performance stages beneath its ornate facade. The building houses a ProTools recording studio, three performance areas, and conference rooms for different uses.

The theatre opened in 1859 as Nya Theatern and received its current name in 1880. This renaming marked a shift in how the venue was understood and used by the city.

The interior features intricate stucco work and paintings by sculptor Carl Ahlborn that give the building its artistic character. These crafted details shape how visitors experience the space when they enter.

The building offers different areas to explore, including a restaurant called Grill Del Mundo and a basement restaurant called Gropen. Its location next to Kungsparken makes it easy to reach, especially if you want to visit the nearby fountains and sculptures.

The basement features Storköket ute with outdoor dining tables next to a park with fountains and art sculptures. This hidden dining area connects the theatre building to the surrounding green space in an unexpected way.
