Katthamra

Katthamra is a two-story Neoclassical manor house with a hip roof, painted interiors, and a statue of Diana above the main entrance. The estate includes several renovated buildings with three structures set up for guest rentals and six buildings that have received new roofs.

The estate traces its roots to the Middle Ages, with Peder Fleming recorded as its first known owner who acquired the property in 1652. Over the following centuries, the grounds developed into a prosperous agricultural holding and grew in size.

The interior walls display murals painted by Jonas Torssén that reflect how Swedish manor families decorated their homes in the 1800s. These artworks show the tastes and styles that defined upper-class living spaces of that era.

The estate is located on Gotland and is easily accessible by car, while its proximity to the coast makes the area appealing for visitors. The site works well for those wanting to explore historic buildings and renovated structures in a rural setting.

The family's wealth partly came from limestone quarrying in the 18th and 19th centuries, an activity that shaped the surrounding landscape. This economic foundation allowed the estate to grow and survive to the present day.
