Sickelsjö Manor, Manor house in Arboga Municipality, Sweden
Sickelsjö Manor is a yellow timber residence with white plastered pilasters and a wide portico supported by columns at its entrance. The main building anchors a substantial property with forests and numerous outbuildings surrounding it.
The estate was built between 1795 and 1802 for Carl Fredrik Heijkenskjöld and has shaped the landscape since then. Its roof was originally covered with oak shingles before being replaced with metal and copper materials.
The manor sits within a landscape of service houses, cottages, and farm buildings that show how a large estate functioned as a community. These structures around the main building reflect the social hierarchy and daily life of the rural gentry.
The property remains largely forested and continues to support forestry and hunting operations. It is a private estate, so access may be limited and visitors should check conditions in advance.
A round pavilion from 1903 stands in front of the main building, decorated with a weather vane bearing the letters HAN and the year 1603 from Hameln, Germany. This small structure carries an unexpected connection to a distant European city.
