Olle Adolphsons park, Public park in Mariatorget, Södermalm district of Stockholm, Sweden
Olle Adolphsons park sits between Lilla Skinnarviksgränd and Monteliusvägen with walking paths, green spaces, and seating areas scattered throughout. The terrain features multiple levels and different routes that allow visitors to explore the space in their own way.
This site historically served as a quarantine area for people with swamp fever before burial. The land remained undeveloped for many years due to its connection to disease, until eventually being transformed into a public green space.
The park was named in 2014 after Swedish singer-songwriter Olle Adolphson, with a bronze bust by artist Olle Seglert placed there in 2016. Today it serves as a gathering spot for locals and visitors seeking a quiet place to spend time in the heart of the neighborhood.
Access to the park is straightforward from Monteliusvägen, connecting directly to the walking trails and viewpoints. The location is easily reached on foot from nearby neighborhoods and provides good vantage points to look out over the city.
The elevated Mariaberget section where it sits was long considered taboo due to its dark past. Today nothing visually marks this history, yet this hidden background gives the place a quiet depth that makes it feel different from other parks in the area.
