Elektronmusikstudion, Electronic music organization and recording studio in Stockholm, Sweden
Elektronmusikstudion is a professional recording facility and research center housed within the Swedish Performing Arts Agency building in central Stockholm. The space contains extensive recording equipment and technical infrastructure for music production and artistic experimentation.
The studio was founded in 1964 when Sveriges Radio invested in computer-based equipment for electroacoustic music production. It developed under composer Knut Wiggen's leadership into a center for innovative sound technology.
The facility serves as a gathering space for musicians worldwide who create experimental electronic works and share ideas. It enables artists to explore new sound territories using specialized equipment.
The studio operates during daytime hours and offers residency programs for international musicians. Visiting artists have access to professional equipment and technical support from experienced staff members.
The facility preserves original vintage electronic instruments and uses them alongside modern technology. This allows artists to blend historical and contemporary production methods in their work.
