Hradecky Bridge, Cast iron arch bridge in Ljubljana, Slovenia
The Hradecky Bridge spans across the Ljubljanica River, connecting Hrenova Street in Trnovo District with the Prule neighborhood of Center District.
The bridge opened on October 18, 1867, replacing a wooden structure at the original Cobblers' Bridge location, following designs by engineer Johann Hermann from Vienna.
The structure bears the name of Johann Nepomuk Hradecky, who served as mayor of Ljubljana from 1820 to 1846, reflecting the city's administrative heritage.
The bridge functions as a dedicated crossing for pedestrians and cyclists, providing a direct route between two central districts of Ljubljana.
This modular construction ranks among the first hinged arch bridges worldwide and remains the only preserved cast iron bridge in Slovenia.
