The City Museum of Ljubljana presents artifacts and exhibitions across multiple floors in the historical Auersperg Palace building at Gosposka ulica 15.
Founded in 1935, this institution grew from a regional collection to become the primary repository for archaeological findings spanning 4,000 years of Ljubljana's development.
The museum contains extensive collections documenting daily life in Ljubljana from ancient Roman times through medieval periods to present-day urban development.
The museum opens Sunday through Wednesday from 10:00 to 18:00 and Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00, with guided tours available in multiple languages.
The permanent exhibition includes the oldest wooden wheel with axle ever discovered, dating back over 5,200 years and found in Ljubljana's marshlands.
