Main Square in Maribor is a rectangular central plaza with paved stone surfaces and traditional street furniture, surrounded by diverse historic buildings. Numerous cafes, restaurants, and shops line its perimeter, filling the space with activity.

First documented in 1315, the square was Maribor's commercial centre from the Middle Ages into the first half of the 20th century. The town hall on its north side was built in 1515 and given its present Renaissance form between 1563 and 1565. In 1919 the name Glavni trg was adopted; after the German occupation of April 1941 it was briefly called Hauptplatz, then Adolf-Hitler-Platz, before reverting to Glavni trg in May 1945.

The square serves as a meeting place for artisans and craftspeople who display their work during seasonal events. Visitors regularly see stalls with traditional handmade items and regional products from the Styria area.

The square is easily accessible on foot with several public transport stops nearby connecting visitors to other parts of the city. The best time to explore is in the morning or late afternoon when crowds are smallest.

On 17 November 1929 a Raab-Katzenstein KL.1 Schwalbe aircraft, registration D-974, crashed on the square while performing aerobatics; the aeroclub secretary Ivo Šestan and factory pilot Hans Müller died. The square was renamed Adolf Hitler Platz during the Second World War and got its Slovene name back in May 1945.
