The Judgement Tower features a circular floor plan topped by a three-part conical roof covered in brick shingles, with wooden-framed windows piercing its smooth exterior surfaces. The tower was built in 1310 and destroyed in 1532, then reconstructed between 1548 and 1562 by Italian engineers who also built Maribor's City Hall. This rebuilding represented an important period of urban recovery for the city during the Renaissance.
The tower's name comes from its past role as a place where judgments and sentences were pronounced, particularly during the region's witch trials.
