The foundation stone was laid in 1904 by Bishop Anton Bonaventura Jeglič, with construction completed and the church consecrated on September 8, 1924.

The church contains multiple prayer areas, including a dedicated altar to Saints Cyril and Methodius, and features galleries added in 1973.
The stained glass windows, created by Tomaž Perk at a Viennese art school, illuminate the interior with colored light through detailed religious scenes.
