Our Lady of Help Parish Church in Rakovnik, Parish church in Rakovnik, Slovenia
Our Lady of Help Parish Church is a Catholic church in Rakovnik featuring two distinctive bell towers that rise approximately 35 meters high. The building displays a statue of the Virgin Mary above its entrance and contains interior galleries added in 1973.
The foundation stone was laid in 1904 by Bishop Anton Bonaventura Jeglič, and the building was completed and consecrated in 1924. This construction reflected the growth of the Catholic community in the area during the early 20th century.
The Salesian religious order has maintained this place as a center for worship and community life in the neighborhood. Residents gather here for services and parish events throughout the year.
The church is easy to identify from its two prominent towers and central location in the neighborhood. Inside, visitors will find multiple prayer areas, including a dedicated altar dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius.
The stained glass windows were created by Tomaž Perk at a Viennese art school and cast colored light throughout the interior. These artistic elements feature detailed religious scenes that animate the space when light filters through the glass.
