Kodeljevo castle

Kodeljevo castle is a Renaissance mansion in the Kodeljevo district of Ljubljana that showcases architectural features from the 17th century with late Renaissance characteristics. A Baroque chapel with frescoed walls sits within the estate and is surrounded by landscaped gardens and park areas.

Baron Peter Anthony Codelli acquired the original Turn mansion property in 1700, and the neighborhood was subsequently named Kodeljevo after his family. The structure underwent architectural modifications over the centuries as baroque elements were added to the original design.

The mansion has functioned as a venue for art exhibitions and cultural events where contemporary artists displayed their work in the gallery spaces. Local communities and performers continue to gather here for various cultural programs.

The property is located at Koblarjeva 34 on the outskirts of the city center and is accessible by public transportation. The surrounding park grounds invite leisurely walks and provide orientation points for exploring the neighborhood.

The last Baron Codelli to reside here became Ljubljana's first automobile owner and held several mechanical patents. His passion for technology left a mark on the estate during an era when cars were still rare in the city.
