Kremnica Mountains, Mountain range in central Slovakia.
The Kremnica Mountains stretch across central Slovakia, forming a range with deep valleys, steep slopes, and dense forests at elevations between 800 and 900 meters. The terrain is divided into five distinct geographical subdivisions that together comprise the entire mountain landscape.
The mountains were known in medieval times for their ore deposits, which shaped the economy of surrounding regions in Upper Hungary. This mining tradition formed the foundation for settlement development across the entire area.
The mountains are linked by walking trails that help local communities maintain their daily connections across the range. These paths are woven into the fabric of village life and shape how settlements relate to one another.
Multiple entry points are accessible from the town of Kremnica, with walking trails suited to different skill levels. The paths connect various parts of the range and offer good orientation even for less experienced walkers.
The range is divided into five separate geographical units: Kunešovská hornatina, Jastrabská vrchovina, Flochovský chrbát, Turovské predhorie, and Malachovské predhorie. This division reflects different geological and landscape features that create varied experiences for visitors across the mountains.
