Malý Kolový štít, Mountain peak in High Tatras, Slovakia
Malý Kolový štít is a mountain summit in the High Tatras reaching 2276 meters, formed by exposed granite rock that dominates the surrounding landscape. The peak rises as a distinct formation visible from multiple vantage points within the range.
The peak was first climbed on July 18, 1898, by mountaineers with local guides who reached the summit. This ascent contributed to the early exploration of the Tatra range and the development of climbing in the region.
The mountain features various climbing routes, including the highly regarded Motyka route, which represents advanced mountaineering techniques in Slovak mountaineering traditions.
This peak has no marked hiking trails and requires climbing experience and proper equipment to reach. Access is possible from several approaches along the ridge or via Jahnaci Valley for experienced mountaineers.
The southern rock wall of this summit exceeds 200 meters in height and ranks among the largest cliff faces in the entire Tatra range. The Motyka route is a well-known challenging climbing line that represents advanced technical climbing in the region.
