Zmrzlá veža, Mountain summit in High Tatras, Slovakia.
Modra Turnia is a mountain summit in the High Tatras standing at 2312 meters on the main ridge. It sits between Kolovy Peak and Red Tower, serving as a significant point along the chain of peaks in this alpine region.
The summit was first climbed in 1900 by mountaineers Jan Fischer, Zygmunt Jaworski, and Stanislaw Krygowski. This early ascent established it as a recognized objective for climbers in the region.
The peak carries different names across languages: Zmrzlá veža in Slovak, Modra Turnia in Polish, and Vörös-tavi-torony in Hungarian, reflecting the regional diversity.
No marked hiking trails reach the summit, so technical climbing experience is needed. Access is possible via the ridge route starting from Modra Lawka pass, though climbers should be prepared for exposed terrain.
The north-eastern flank borders Jastrzębia Valley while its walls descend into two separate branches of Kolova Valley. These two valley arms are divided by the Kolova Ridge running between them.
