Roháče, Mountain range in Tvrdošín District, Slovakia.
Roháče is a mountain chain within the Western Tatras with peaks exceeding 2000 meters and sharp, jagged ridges. Steep rocky walls alternate with alpine meadows across this range.
The range formed during the Alpine mountain-building period millions of years ago through tectonic movement. Since then, its sharp peaks and deep valleys have remained defining features of the landscape.
Herders have shaped these pastures through traditional grazing for generations, creating the open meadows you see on the mountainside. This practice remains visible in how the landscape is organized and maintained today.
A network of marked trails connects mountain shelters and provides several access points to the range. Routes vary in difficulty and duration, suiting different fitness levels and time available.
The range comprises three distinct summits that form a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. This three-peak arrangement makes it geographically distinctive along the frontier.
