Długi Upłaz

Długi Upłaz is an arête spanning the border between Slovakia and Poland with a gently rounded crest profile. The ridge extends across several kilometers at elevations ranging from around 1630 to 1785 meters, creating a defined skyline above the surrounding valleys.

Local mountain dwellers traditionally named this ridge based on its geographic features and position in the landscape. The name reflects how inhabitants understood and described the natural formations within their territory.

The geological formations in this area include gneisses, migmatites, amphibolites, mylonites, and quartzites, representing the crystalline core of the Tatra Mountains.

A marked hiking trail with blue signage crosses this ridge and connects multiple valleys on both slopes. The path is exposed to weather and alpine conditions, so proper preparation and appropriate mountain footwear are needed.

The slopes display colorful seasonal vegetation patterns including red blueberry bushes, yellow grasses, and purple heather that contrast with light rocky formations. These color shifts change throughout the year as plants grow and respond to weather.
