Pran Buri, Administrative district in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand
Pran Buri is an administrative district in Prachuap Khiri Khan covering coastal areas along the Gulf of Thailand as well as inland regions with rising terrain. The territory comprises six sub-districts containing 44 villages spread across the landscape.
The district formed in 1906 from the merger of three former cities under King Chulalongkorn's administration. This consolidation established the framework that continues to define the territory today.
Fishing traditions shape daily life in the coastal villages, where residents maintain centuries-old methods of seafood harvesting. These practices remain visible in the markets and along the waterfront, connecting people to the sea.
The district is accessible through local transportation networks connecting markets, beaches, and natural areas. Visitors should use the village centers as bases to explore different parts of the territory.
A protected mangrove forest sits at the river mouth, designated as a forest park. This woodland serves as a habitat for diverse marine and terrestrial species living between land and water.
