Sung Noen, Administrative district in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand
The district extends across 782.9 square kilometers of terrain at an elevation of 233 meters, containing eleven subdivisions called tambons and 127 villages.
Two ancient cities, Mueang Sema and Khorakha Pura, stood in this region under the rule of Pho Khun Pha Mueang during the Sukhothai Kingdom period.
The name Sung Noen translates to 'high hills' in Thai, referring to the geographic formation of two elevated landforms positioned beside a water body.
The district connects to neighboring regions through the Northeastern railway line, which arrived in 1901 and remains a primary transportation route.
Archaeological remains of Prasat Muang Kao, an ancient Khmer temple, stand within the district boundaries, preserving architectural elements from previous centuries.
