Prasat Ban Prasat

Prasat Ban Prasat is a Khmer temple complex featuring three brick towers of differing heights arranged on a laterite foundation. Protective walls surround the entire structure to define and safeguard the sacred grounds.

The site was built in the 10th or 11th century under Khmer influence and has shaped the region's religious landscape ever since. During the subsequent Lan Xang period, the grounds underwent modifications to accommodate new religious practices.

The central tower functions as a Buddhist prayer space where modern Buddha statues have replaced the original Khmer figures. The site demonstrates how ancient Khmer artistic forms have been woven into the community's religious life today.

Remove your shoes before entering the enclosed sanctuary area, which is open during regular daytime hours. The cooler morning hours offer the most comfortable time for exploring the grounds.

The complex sits within the Wat Prasat monastery grounds, blending ancient Khmer architecture with the everyday rhythm of modern Buddhist monastic life. This combination shows how past and present coexist in a single place.
