Thung Salaeng Luang National Park

The park features diverse topography with limestone hills, slate formations, and hardpan at elevations ranging from 300 to 1,028 meters above sea level.

Established as Thailand's third national park in 1963, the area served as a base for Communist Party guerrillas from the late 1960s through early 1980s.

The park's name derives from the Strychnos nux-vomica trees that grow throughout the region, reflecting the traditional Thai practice of naming places after local flora.

Visitors require private transportation to access the park, as no public services operate within its boundaries, and GPS navigation often proves unreliable.

Tham Phra Wang Daeng, stretching 13.8 kilometers through the western section of the park, holds the distinction of being Thailand's longest cave system.
