Pran Buri Forest Park, Forest park in Pak Nam Pran, Thailand.
Pran Buri Forest Park sits at the mouth of the Pran Buri River and contains pathways through multiple forest types, from mangroves to mixed deciduous woodland. The park spreads across wetland terrain with observation platforms that reveal the structure and composition of coastal vegetation.
The park was established in 1982 following a royal visit that drew attention to coastal protection needs, with the aim of supporting reforestation efforts along the shore. Since then it has remained a protected space where natural forest ecosystems and their functions are preserved.
The park was created as an educational space, and visitors can today observe how local people interact with and protect the mangrove forests. Walking through the wetlands, you notice traditional fishing practices and gain a sense of how these natural areas sustain coastal communities.
The grounds are accessible via a walking path that visitors can explore on foot, with viewing platforms for observing the surroundings. Boat tours are available depending on water levels and offer a different perspective of the wetlands.
The park is a prime spot for birdwatchers, hosting over 100 bird species including multiple kingfisher varieties. From a dedicated watchtower, visitors can spot rare species such as the Oriental plover.
