Assumption College, Catholic boys' school in Bang Rak, Thailand
Assumption College is a Catholic boys' school in the Bang Rak district, operating a multi-building campus close to the Chao Phraya River. The institution provides education from grade 2 through grade 13 exclusively for male students.
Father Emile-Auguste Colombet founded the school in 1885 with an initial enrollment of 33 students. It became the third-oldest boys' school in the country and continues to follow Catholic educational principles today.
The school takes part in Jaturamitr Samakkee, a traditional football competition involving the four oldest boys' schools in Thailand. These rivalries shape student life today and draw crowds of supporters each year.
Access to the campus is through the nearby Saphan Taksin BTS elevated station. The grounds lie within walking distance of the river and remain restricted to visitors during school hours on weekdays.
Four Thai prime ministers and fifteen members of the Privy Council graduated from this school. Its influence on the political elite continues today through networks of former students.
