Khlong Phanom National Park

Khlong Phanom National Park is a forest reserve within a mountainous region, featuring steep limestone cliffs and thick tropical vegetation. The park protects a variety of plant and animal habitats across its landscape.

The park was officially established as a protected area in 2000 to safeguard the forests and natural resources of southern Thailand. This decision marked an important step in conservation efforts for the region.

Rock paintings from the Neolithic period are visible on stone walls throughout the park, revealing that people have lived in this region for thousands of years. These ancient marks show how humans have long been connected to this forest.

The park is accessible by bus or minivan from Surat Thani, though travel times can be lengthy depending on which areas you wish to visit. Visitors should prepare for uneven terrain and tropical weather conditions, particularly during the rainy season.

The park is home to Mai Pai Chiang Ruun, the largest bamboo species in Thailand, which grows among the forest vegetation. This remarkable plant demonstrates the biodiversity that makes the place ecologically special.
