Wat Suthiwararam School, public secondary school in Bangkok, Thailand
Wat Suthiwararam School is a boys school in Bangkok located in the Sathon district near busy city streets. The grounds feature multiple buildings in pink, white, and green colors with classrooms, sports facilities, and courtyards serving students from grades 7 through 12.
The school was founded in 1911 and was the first school established by a private citizen to serve the public. In 1917 the school system was reorganized and Satri Si Suriyothai School was added as a sister girls school.
The school takes its name from a nearby temple and integrates local traditions into daily learning. Students participate in Thai dance and learn about cultural customs during festivals like Loy Krathong and Songkran.
The school is easily accessible by public transportation with buses and taxis near Charoen Krung Road. Visitors are typically welcomed during open days or special events when you can walk the campus grounds.
The school's marching band won an international championship in Sydney in 1999 earning the top score in their category. A Buddha statue called Luang Por Suthi Mongkolchai was created in 1989 and is believed by many to bring good fortune.
