Lam Nam Kra Buri National Park

Lam Nam Kra Buri National Park is a protected natural reserve in Ranong Province near Thailand's border with Myanmar. The landscape includes evergreen forests, extensive mangrove systems, and several islands scattered throughout the river area.

The area became a protected park in 1999 to preserve biodiversity along the border with Myanmar. This decision acknowledged the ecological importance of the mangrove and forest systems in this specific region.

Local fishing communities maintain their traditional practices in the mangrove waters, and their presence shapes how the landscape is used and valued. The river and its forests are woven into the daily routines of people who have lived here for generations.

The park is best explored on foot or by boat tours arranged through local communities. The dry season is the ideal time to visit, when trails are more passable and wildlife is more active.

Several islands within the park, particularly Ko Nok Plao, contain some of Thailand's most intact mangrove forests. These stands are remarkable for their size and health, attracting visitors interested in pristine natural ecosystems.
