Lampi Island Marine National Park, Marine national park in Bokpyin Township, Myanmar.
Lampi Island Marine National Park is a protected area encompassing 20,484 hectares of sea and land, with Lampi Island as its main feature alongside smaller islands. Coral reefs and mangrove forests form the backbone of the ecosystem found throughout this region.
The protected area was established in 1996, marking Myanmar's first marine national park of this scale. It gained ASEAN Heritage Park status in December 2003.
The Moken sea nomads practice traditional fishing ways that are deeply rooted in their daily lives and passed down through families. You can observe these customs in villages like Pu Nala, where people's routines remain closely connected to the water and seasonal patterns.
Visitors can explore the area during daylight hours and participate in jungle walks, snorkeling, kayaking, and wildlife observation. Going with a local guide is recommended to make the most of your visit and stay safe in the environment.
The park is home to dugongs, sea turtles, and Nicobar pigeons, species that visitors might spot while exploring. These animal populations survive here because of protection efforts and the presence of roughly 50 mangrove species plus 60 coral varieties.
