Khlong Bang Mot

Khlong Bang Mot is a canal system that runs through several Bangkok districts, connecting settlements and agricultural lands along its route. The waterway passes through an area where residential neighborhoods, small businesses, and farming zones sit close together.

The canal system developed when Thailand expanded its international trade connections and the region became known for fruit exports. The waterways were created to move goods from local farms to trading centers and ports.

Residents live directly along the waterway and use it as part of their daily routines for work and movement. This water-centered way of life shapes how the communities look and function, making the canal the heart of their neighborhoods.

The area is accessible via a bicycle path that follows much of the canal and connects to public transportation options. The early morning hours are the best time to visit, when activity along the water is most lively.

Along one section of the canal, a traditional craftsperson still builds wooden boats using old techniques that have nearly disappeared from the region. This workshop represents a fading skill that few people still practice.
