Ismoil Somoni Peak

Ismoil Somoni Peak reaches an elevation of 7,495 meters, making it the highest point in Tajikistan and a prominent feature of the Pamir mountain range.

The mountain underwent multiple name changes, starting as Stalin Peak in 1933, becoming Communism Peak in 1962, before receiving its current name in 1998.

The peak bears the name of Ismail Samani, an influential ruler of the Samanid dynasty who shaped the cultural identity of present-day Tajikistan.

Climbers typically begin their journey at Moskvina Glade base camp at 4,200 meters, which requires helicopter access and serves as the preparation point.

The first successful climb occurred on September 3, 1933, when Soviet mountaineers Yevgeniy Abalakov and Nikolay Gorbunov reached the summit through challenging conditions.
