Tozeur

Tozeur is an oasis settlement in Tunisia positioned between two salt lakes and fed by numerous artesian springs. The city sustains more than 200,000 date palms that shape the landscape and form the economic foundation of the region.

The settlement was known as Tusuros during Roman times and gradually became an important trading hub for caravans. This role connected the region to trans-Saharan trade routes and shaped its economic development over centuries.

The buildings display yellow and brown brick facades with geometric patterns that shape the medina's appearance. This distinctive style reflects how locals have traditionally constructed their homes and public spaces.

The city is accessible by its international airport, railway network, and regular bus services, making arrival straightforward. Accommodation options range from central hotels to those located in tourist zones.

The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions displays regional artifacts that document local history and craftsmanship. The Dar Cheraït complex combines exhibition spaces with an entertainment park, blending heritage with leisure activities.
