Istanbul Sapphire, Skyscraper in Levent district, Istanbul, Turkey
Istanbul Sapphire is a skyscraper in the Levent business district with 54 above-ground floors reaching 261 meters high. The tower houses an observation deck, residential units, shops, and offices, supported by ten basement levels below.
Construction of this glass-clad tower began in 2006 and was completed in 2010, opening to the public on March 4, 2011. The project marked a turning point in Istanbul's growth as a regional financial and business hub.
The tower reflects Istanbul's transformation into a modern metropolis, where contemporary design brings together homes, shops, and offices in one structure. It shows how the city reshaped its skyline and urban identity.
Dedicated elevators lead to the observation deck and offer views across Istanbul, the Bosphorus, and the Black Sea. Visit on clear days when visibility extends the farthest across the water and city.
The facade features two separate glass shells with holes every three floors that create natural ventilation channels. This design helps the building cool itself and reduce energy consumption.
