Sultanbeyli, Municipality district on the Asian side of Istanbul, Turkey
Sultanbeyli is a municipal district on Istanbul's Asian side, situated on elevated terrain about 130 meters above sea level. The town consists of several neighborhoods organized across its inland geography.
The area gained village status in 1957, prompting land divisions and settlement by Turkish migrants from Bulgaria in what had been farmland. This period of migration formed the foundation for the district's later growth.
The district maintains fifteen distinct neighborhoods, each with local markets where residents gather to trade fresh produce and handmade products.
The O-4 Motorway provides the main highway connection to central Istanbul. Multiple bus routes also serve the area and link it to the wider metropolitan region.
Between 1985 and 1990, the district experienced extraordinary population growth that dramatically reshaped its development. This rapid expansion transformed a small settlement into a significant urban community in just a few years.
