Bayezid II Külliye Health Museum

The Bayezid II Külliye Health Museum is located within a historic complex in Edirne Province and displays medical instruments, manuscripts, and treatment approaches from Ottoman times. The exhibition spaces feature multilingual information panels that help visitors understand the different aspects of Ottoman medical knowledge and practice.

The complex was originally built as a social and educational center that provided healthcare services to the local population during Ottoman times. It later became a museum to preserve this Ottoman medical heritage for future generations.

The exhibits reveal how music and different healing methods were combined to treat both physical and mental conditions in Ottoman times. These practices were deeply rooted in daily life and show a holistic approach to health and well-being.

The museum received the Council of Europe Museum Prize in 2004 for successfully preserving Ottoman medical heritage and sharing it through education. This international recognition highlights how important the knowledge and practices displayed here are to European cultural history.
