Cleopatra's Gate, Ancient Roman gate in Tarsus, Turkey
The stone gate rises 8.5 meters tall with a passage length of 6.5 meters, featuring architectural elements from the Roman imperial period.
The gate gained its name after Queen Cleopatra VII entered Tarsus through this entrance in 41 BC to meet Mark Antony.
During the Ottoman period, this structure was known as the Feminine Gate before its name changed to honor the Egyptian queen in the 20th century.
Located along Ismet Pasha Boulevard near the archaeological museum, the gate provides free access to visitors throughout the year.
Despite multiple renovations that altered its original appearance, the gate contains sections of ancient facade and a relocated Roman-era inscription about Tarsus.
