Mersin State Art and Sculpture Museum

The Mersin State Art and Sculpture Museum is an art museum displaying contemporary and traditional Turkish artworks across multiple floors in a restored historical building. The collection features sculptures and paintings arranged throughout the structure.

The building dates to the 19th century when it served as a caravanserai with stables for travelers and animals on the ground floor. This original purpose shaped its architecture long before it became a space for art.

The museum displays work by local and national artists through rotating exhibitions that reflect the region's artistic development. These shows help shape how the Mediterranean community engages with contemporary and traditional visual art.

The museum is located near the Icel Art Club and opens daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM except Sundays, with free admission for all visitors. This makes it easy to visit whenever works with your schedule.

The building has lived several lives, transforming from a caravanserai into the Gulnar Hotel before being restored as a state museum in 2001. This journey shows how historic structures can serve completely different purposes over time.
