Tahtakuşlar Ethnography Museum, Private ethnographic museum in Balıkesir Province, Turkey.
Tahtakuşlar Ethnography Museum is a private ethnographic institution in Balıkesir Province that collects traditional artifacts and household items. It presents cultural objects that document the daily life of Oghuz Turk descendants in the region.
The museum was founded in 1991 by retired teacher Alibey Kudar and preserves the heritage of the Tahtacı people. This community of Oghuz Turks has lived in Tahtakuşlar village for generations and maintained its traditions.
The collection displays traditional furniture, clothing, rugs, and ornaments that reflect the craftsmanship and customs of the local Tahtacı community. These objects tell of daily practices and artistic skills passed down across generations.
The museum sits about 1.5 km (1 mi) from Güre town and can be reached via the D.550 highway linking Izmir and Canakkale, which passes through the Kazdağ mountain region. As a private venue, visitors should check opening hours in advance.
The museum houses an unusually large sea turtle shell that catches visitors by surprise. An on-site art gallery features works by painter and sculptor Selim Turan, blending traditional ethnography with contemporary artistic expression.
