Balıkesir Province

Balıkesir Province sits between the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea in northwestern Anatolia, featuring rolling hills, coastal areas, and plains. The territory is divided into around 20 districts with distinct landscapes and settlement patterns.

Ancient Greek cities like Cyzicus and Antandrus developed here during classical times and were later controlled by Romans and Byzantines. These settlements left archaeological remains scattered across the region that visitors can still encounter today.

The province connects well to major routes and is easily reached from larger cities like Istanbul and Izmir. Spring and early autumn offer the most pleasant visiting conditions, with moderate temperatures throughout the region.

Lake Manyas contains Kuş Cenneti National Park, which attracts more than 250 bird species including rare migrating birds. The park draws ornithologists and nature watchers from around the world who come to observe them.
