Agios Panteleimonas Greek Orthodox Church, Kuzguncuk

Agios Panteleimonas is a Greek Orthodox church in Kuzguncuk featuring a Greek cross design with a central dome supported by four pillars. The marble courtyard gate entrance includes a belfry, and behind it sits a small square-plan holy well, known locally as ayazma.

The church was built in 1831 during Sultan Mahmud II's reign, establishing itself as part of Istanbul's religious landscape. After a fire in 1872, it was reconstructed under architect Nikola Ziko and reopened in 1892.

The church serves as a gathering place for Istanbul's Greek Orthodox community, where believers come together for regular services and observances. The interior is adorned with religious icons and symbols that reflect the Byzantine traditions of the city.

The building sits in the Üsküdar district on Istanbul's Asian shore, surrounded by residential buildings and local shops. Entry is through the marble gate, which is easily visible from the street.

The belfry was designed in 1911 by Andon Hüdaverdioğlu and rises distinctly above the marble courtyard gate. This addition made the church a recognizable landmark within the otherwise densely built residential surroundings of the neighborhood.
