Dajia District, Administrative district in Taichung, Taiwan
Dajia District is an administrative region on the northwestern coast of Taichung that combines residential areas with ports and industrial zones. The layout includes neighborhoods, harbor facilities, and manufacturing centers that form a mixed urban and working landscape.
The area was originally inhabited by the Taokas people before migrants from Fujian established settlements starting in 1669. It became an official district of Taichung City in 2010.
The Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage draws thousands of participants who walk through the area honoring traditional religious practices and folk traditions. The event fills the streets with processions, altars, and celebrations that reflect deep-rooted local customs.
The district connects through Dajia Rail Station, National Freeway 3, and regular bus services that link to the Taiwan High Speed Rail. These transportation options make it easy to travel around the area or reach other parts of Taichung.
Giant Manufacturing, a major bicycle producer, has operated its facility here since 1972 and shaped the local economy. The company made this place a significant center for bicycle production.
