南屯聖維雅內堂, Methodist chapel at Tunghai University in Xitun District, Taiwan.
The Luce Memorial Chapel features four warped concrete leaves rising to 19.2 meters, forming a tent-like structure with diamond-shaped yellow tiles.
Architects I.M. Pei and Chi-kuan Chen designed the chapel in 1962, completing the construction in 1963 for a total cost of 125,000 dollars.
The chapel serves the Methodist community at Tunghai University with regular services, accommodating 500 people in its main nave section.
Located at 1727 Taiwan Boulevard Section 4, the chapel remains closed to visitors except during scheduled religious services and ceremonies.
The structure combines reinforced concrete instead of wood due to regional climate conditions, with local artisans creating intricate formwork patterns.
