Liming New Village, Planned residential community in Nantun District, Taichung, Taiwan.
Liming New Village is a planned residential community in Taichung, Taiwan, where housing blocks, parks, and green spaces follow an organized street grid. The site also has a gymnasium, a police station, and government office buildings spread across the grounds.
The village was built in the 1970s when government agencies moved from Taipei to the former Sancuo Farm area near Taichung railway station. This relocation was part of a broader effort to decentralize administrative functions away from the capital.
The neighborhood has a traditional market where residents come to shop on a daily basis. The buildings show how Taiwan once designed residential areas specifically for government workers and their families.
The village is best explored on foot, as the whole area is designed as one connected space with easy-to-follow paths. Most facilities sit close to one another, so getting around does not take long.
A stone plaque from 1975 marks the completion of the residential buildings and still stands on the grounds today. A small creek to the west of the site is a leftover from the agricultural land that once occupied this area.
