Dihua Street is a historic commercial street in Datong District, running through Dadaocheng with traditional shops housed in old buildings. These shops sell Chinese herbs, fabrics, tea, dried goods, and incense materials that attract shoppers throughout the year.
The street began in the 1850s when merchants from Quanzhou moved from Bangka and established a trading center in this area. It developed into one of Taipei's oldest commercial routes, with roots reaching back to the Dutch colonial period.
The Xiahai City God Temple sits among baroque revival and Fujian-style buildings that show different building approaches from past eras. Locals and visitors gather here during festivals and celebrations, making it a living center for traditional practices.
Daqiaotou Metro Station is the nearest transport hub, located within walking distance of the street. Many traditional vendors here prefer cash payments, so bring enough money rather than relying on cards.
