林默娘公園, Water deity park in Anping District, Taiwan.
Lin Mo Niang Park is an open-air park on the south bank of Anping Canal in Anping District, Tainan. It consists mostly of open lawn and waterside paths, with a tall statue as the central feature near the harbor entrance.
The area around Anping Canal is part of Taiwan's oldest port district, tied to maritime trade and fishing for centuries. The site was formally incorporated into the Anping Harbour National Historic Park in 2004.
The park is dedicated to Lin Mo Niang, worshipped as Matsu, the goddess who watches over sailors and fishing communities across Taiwan. Her large statue facing the water makes the link between faith and the sea immediately visible to anyone walking through the grounds.
The grounds are open and mostly without shade, so sun protection is a good idea on bright days. Shops across the street rent kites, making the open lawn area a natural spot for that activity.
A small hill at the western end of the park gives visitors a raised view over the canal and the movement of boats near the harbor. This spot is easy to miss but offers a different angle on the whole waterfront area.
