Nuandong Valley

Nuandong Valley is a mountainous gorge featuring rock formations and dense plant growth along multiple hiking trails. The terrain shows steep slopes, natural water channels, and varied vegetation patterns throughout the different pathways.

The valley developed through mining activities in the 19th and 20th centuries, leaving deep marks on the landscape. This industrial period shaped the terrain and left visible remains that still characterize the site today.

The valley served as a key passage for indigenous communities conducting trade and movement between regions over centuries. Today visitors can still trace these historical routes while walking the pathways.

Getting there is straightforward: take the train to Nuannuan Station and transfer to bus 603. The journey from Taipei takes about one hour, making it accessible for a day trip.

The valley contains geological features shaped by typhoon water and erosion over time. Distinctive natural potholes and depressions stand out as evidence of the power of flowing water.
