Mount Jiangziliao, Mountain peak at the intersection of Xizhi, Pingxi, and Nuannuan Districts, Taiwan.
Mount Jiangziliao is a peak in northeastern Taiwan that sits precisely at the junction of the Ruifang, Pingxi, and Zhonghe districts. The summit opens onto a wide panorama that takes in Taipei, Keelung, and the forested ridges of the Pingxi area.
The mountain has been known by different names over time, including Zhenchang Mountain and Stone Kiln Great Hill, each name tied to how local communities used or described the land. These older names point to a period when the area had kilns and small industries before the forests grew back.
The mountain sits at the meeting point of three districts, and locals often treat it as a natural boundary marker between their communities. Hikers from Taipei, Keelung, and New Taipei come here on weekends, giving the trail a social character that feels different from more remote peaks.
The main trail starts near Taian Waterfall and ends at Jingtong, allowing hikers to walk it as a one-way route with a train back to the start. Starting early in the day is a good idea, as the path has very few spots to pick up food or water along the way.
Part of the trail passes through land that was once used for coal mining, and some remnants of that era can still be spotted in the forest. This gives the walk a layer of industrial history that most visitors do not expect to find on a mountain hike.
