店仔街福德宮, Temple at Dianzijie Street, Taipei, Taiwan.
店仔街福德宮 is a Chinese temple in the Dianzijie area of Taipei, Taiwan, built with red columns, layered roofs, and stone carvings of dragons and guardian figures. The structure follows the style common to temples brought by Fujianese settlers, with a main hall facing an open forecourt used for offerings and prayer.
The temple dates back to the Qing Dynasty period, when Fujianese settlers established it as a place of worship in what was then a developing neighborhood. It has been rebuilt and renovated several times since, though it has remained in continuous use throughout.
The temple is dedicated to Tu Di Gong, the Earth God, one of the most commonly worshipped figures in everyday Taiwanese religious life. Visitors can watch locals stop in briefly to light incense and leave small offerings, often as part of a daily routine rather than a formal ceremony.
The temple is open most days from early morning until evening and welcomes both worshippers and curious visitors. It is best to move quietly inside and step aside if a ceremony or offering is taking place near the altar.
The interior walls carry hand-painted murals showing scenes from Chinese mythology, executed in the layered color techniques used in traditional religious painting. This kind of detailed mural work is not common in neighborhood temples of this size and makes the space worth a slower look.
