Kolomyia

Located at 300 meters elevation on the Prut River, Kolomyia stands as a central point between the cities of Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi in western Ukraine.

The city emerged as a salt mining center in the 13th century and received official mention in the Hypatian Chronicle of 1240, later developing under Polish rule.

The Pysanka Museum in Kolomyia houses an extensive collection of traditional Ukrainian Easter eggs, representing the artistic heritage of the Pokuttia region.

The city functions as the administrative center of Kolomyia Raion, managing the governance and services for a population of approximately 60,821 residents.

The railway station, built during the Habsburg period, connects the historic Lemberg-Czernowitz line, maintaining its original 19th-century architectural elements.
