Yaniv railway station, Train station in Ukraine
Yaniv is a decommissioned railway station on the Chernihiv-Ovruch line built in 1925, featuring multiple tracks and station buildings in varying states of repair. The site near Pripyat once handled passenger and freight traffic while supplying the nuclear plant and surrounding facilities.
The station opened in 1925 and served regional freight and passenger transport until the 1986 nuclear accident. Following the disaster, the track to Slavutych was electrified to support cleanup operations before the line was eventually decommissioned.
The station once connected workers and residents across the region with regular train services. Today, the rusted tracks and silent platforms stand as reminders of when this place hummed with daily activity and human purpose.
The site lies within a controlled zone requiring official permission to visit, best accessed through organized tours. Located roughly 10 kilometers west of Pripyat, the station is reachable on foot or by motorized transport from approved entry points.
The station appears in the video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat, attracting gaming fans who wish to see the real site. Abandoned Soviet locomotives sit rusted among the trees, with some repurposed as temporary living spaces for workers in the zone.
