The Simeiz Observatory stands at 360 meters elevation on Mount Koshka, featuring multiple research facilities and observation equipment for celestial studies.
Russian amateur astronomer Nikolai Maltsov established the observatory in 1908, initially constructing a refractor tower and a dome for a Zeiss double astrograph.
The facility maintains regular programs connecting professional astronomers with students through educational sessions about space exploration and astronomical phenomena.
Researchers at the observatory conduct Very Long Baseline Interferometry observations and monitor Active Galactic Nuclei through specialized telescopic equipment.
Scientists at Simeiz Observatory have discovered 150 minor planets, including asteroid 369010, and created extensive catalogues of galactic emission nebulas.
