Dormition Cathedral, Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The Dormition Cathedral displays nine domes and stands on a hill near the Lopan River, with a 90-meter bell tower built between 1820 and 1830.
Founded as a wooden church in 1657, the cathedral underwent reconstruction in stone from 1685 to 1687, followed by rebuilding after a fire in 1733.
The cathedral serves the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and functions as a concert hall with a large organ installed in 1984 for classical music performances.
Visitors can access the cathedral daily between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM to observe religious services and architectural features of the Ukrainian Baroque style.
The cathedral's bell tower remained the tallest structure in Kharkiv from its construction in the 1830s until the beginning of the 21st century.
