Baworowscy Library, Private library in Lviv, Ukraine
The Baworowscy Library resides in a former arsenal building, featuring high ceilings and spacious reading rooms designed for research and academic pursuits.
In 1635, the structure began as the Sieniawski family arsenal until Count Wiktor Baworowski transformed it into a library with 60,000 volumes in the mid-19th century.
The library's collection contained 38,000 prints, including 30 incunabula, 1,254 manuscripts, and 285 oil paintings from Polish, Dutch, German, and Italian artists.
The institution provided access to rare documents, historical papers, and religious manuscripts from the Dioceses of Kraków and Poznan until World War II.
The library housed letters and personal writings from notable Polish figures like Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Jan Sniadecki, and Aleksander Fredro.
